For over 6 years, I have enjoyed working with adults living with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders as well the family and friends who love them.
Mood disorders are common as much as they are complex; just as depression is more than the blues, anxiety is more than being a little nervous and bipolar disorder is more than being “moody” from time to time.
Despite how common mood disorders are, there is still a lot of stigma about them. There are still persons who believe “snapping out of it” or “trying harder” are effective strategies to manage symptoms. This is simply not the case.
One can be hopeful, that with proper treatment, recovering from symptoms is possible. Talk therapy is among the most recommended treatments for mood disorders.
