Traumatic stress is a natural response to a stressful event, which can result from being involved in the traumatic event or witnessing one. People readily associate accidents, natural disasters, wars as traumatic events, but may minimize other situations that lead to traumatic stress. What is traumatic to one person may not be to the other but does not make it any less impactful. If there is an event that triggers an overwhelming emotional and/or physical response and begins to interrupt daily living, you may be living with traumatic stress. Traumatic stress can be paralyzing emotionally and physically. I apply cognitive and body therapies to help individuals move through the trauma where one is able to heal and live in peace.
